"A dramatic account of the death of Jean Charles de Menezes"

"Stockwell, by Kieron Barry"

"An initial run at the Landor theatre sold out completely, and a short transfer was arranged to the larger Tricycle in north London, which has staged several such dramatisations. The transfer continued to pack the theatre, indicating a desire for a theatre dealing with serious contemporary issues. This is no small matter."

"The highly circumscribed “docu-drama” presentation of the inquest offers Barry and Lifschutz little or no possibility of challenging the inquiry’s remit. In treating the events of the inquest as the substance of the drama, the play cannot fully explore or depict the killing itself. It must not be forgotten that the inquest was not a challenge to the police cover-up of the killing, but part of that cover-up."...

Maybe he is being rewarded for sticking to the official line (and thus protecting his superiors) .. almost like Blair being rewarded with the Middle East Peace Envoy after being prepared to be the Zionist's poodle in destroying Israel's enemies.

Honour for Met chief who led de Menezes operation

The senior Metropolitan Police officer who led the operation that ended with the death of Jean Charles de Menezes in south London has been honoured.

"It is only one year since an inquest jury flatly rejected the police account that Jean was lawfully killed."

He added: "Handing out congratulatory medals makes a mockery of real commitment to that process."

The Metropolitan Police declined to comment on the family's criticism of Cmdr Dick's honour, saying it was not "up to them" who is named in the New Year Honours list.

This news even outraged one of Talksport's most right-wing presenters when it was announced last night. But...if you can get a Nobel Peace price for deplying 100,000-odd troops in bloody wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and extending the bombing to Pakistan and Yemen, then anything's possible in this topsy-turvy world. An Honour for a police chief who's botched operation led to the death of an innocent man, is almost logical in this madness. Makes you wonder who's pulling the strings.
BTW- you don't just "get" an Honour. You have to be nominated, with at least four other supporters, and fill in a 4-page form explaining exactly why the person is deserving of receiving one of the nation's highest tokens of recognition. It's not an easy process, and takes around 18 months/2 years from start to finish. I'm involved in one for someone very deserving, and the Dick case looks as if some corners have been cut, as they are for sports people who come fron nowhere, win something important, then disappear into obscurity. Still, the awards are in the name of the British Empire, so the system is well out-dated.
